50 Marketing Ideas for your business

Small business owners can easily get too involved in the day-to-day operations of their retail stores to spend any time brainstorming marketing ideas or promotional events. Some retailers worry that marketing is too expensive, others may find it too time consuming. Without announcing who you are and what you sell, how will anyone know? Here are 50 marketing ideas for retailers.

1. Create a calendar for customers with your shop's name and address on it.

2. Print the products you sell or services offered on the back of your business cards.

3. Always carry business cards with you. Give them freely and ask permission to leave them in places your target market may visit.

4. Join a trade association or organization related to your industry.

5. Have a drawing for a product or a gift certificate. Use the entry forms to collect customers' mailing addresses.

6. Develop a brochure of services your shop offers.

7. Conduct monthly clinics about a product or service you offer or schedule semi-annual seminars on related "how-to" information for your industry.

8. Print a tagline for your business on letterhead, fax cover sheets, e-mails and invoices.

9. Develop a website to showcase your products, services and location. Use a memorable URL and include it on all marketing materials.

10. Include customer testimonials in your printed literature.

11. Promote yourself as an expert by writing articles or tips on topics related to your industry.

12. Submit to the local newspaper, trade journal or other publications.

13. Host an after-hours gathering for your employees and their friends/relatives.

14. Provide free t-shirts with your logo to your staff to wear.

15. Send newsworthy press releases as often as needed.

16. Create an annual award and publicize it.

17. Develop your own TV show on your specialty and present it to your local cable station or public broadcasting station.

18. Create a press kit and keep its contents current.

19. Use an answering machine or voice mail system to catch after-hours phone calls. Include basic information in your outgoing messages such as business hours, location, website, etc.

20. Join a Chamber of Commerce where you can network with area business owners.

21. Hold an open house. Invite prominent city officials and the press.

22. Get a memorable local or toll-free phone number.

23. Place ads in publications your market reads. Be sure to reach the non-English speaking market as well.

24. Distribute specialty products such as pens, mouse pads, or mugs with your store's logo.

25. Advertise in creative locations such as park benches, buses, and popular Web sites.
26. Improve your building signage.

27. Get a booth at a trade show or expo attended by your target market.

28. Give a speech or volunteer for a career day at a high school.

29. Sponsor an Adopt-a-Highway area in your community to keep roads litter-free.

30. Donate your product or service to a charity event or auction.

31. Have a Yellow Pages ad listed under your main industry and in related categories.

32. Volunteer your time to a charity or non-profit organization.

33. Create a loyalty program to reward existing customers.

34. Create an opt-in email or print newsletter for your customers. Fill each edition with specials, tips and other timely information.

35. Send hand-written thank you notes to important customers every chance you get.

36. Use brightly colored envelopes and unique stationary when sending direct mail pieces.

37. Show product demos or related videos on a television on the sales floors during store hours.

38. Book a celebrity guest for an event at your store. Use people in your industry or television news anchors or local authors.

39. Create window displays in locations away from your shop. Airports, hospitals, and large office buildings occasionally have display areas they rent to local businesses.

40. Team up with a non-competing business in your area to offer a package promotion.

41. Pick the slowest day of the week to hold a one-day sale.

42. Create a warm, welcoming waiting area for your customers.

43. Provide extra customer service training for your staff.

44. Sign up for a newsletter or join online discussion groups in your industry.

45. If possible, loan your facilities to other groups for a meeting place.

46. Create a unique lapel pin based on the products you sell to wear at meetings.

47. Choose a regular customer to spotlight as a Customer of the Month. Create a brief write up to submit to the local newspaper about the customer and be sure to give he or she a copy of the article as well as have one framed to hang in the store.

48. Pair up slow moving items with related products and repackage as a special buy.

49. Start a blog. Write about your industry or detail in-store happenings.

50. Offer your customers discounts for each referral they provide.

Marketing is most effective if done in coordination with other exposure. Enhance the above efforts with additional signage, newspaper ads, displays and radio ads. Remember to tailor each event for your target audience. If your message isn't being delivered to the right person, it may be a wasted effort.

For many entrepreneurs

For many entrepreneurs, summertime brings slower sales and less hectic activity. What better time than right now to explore fresh marketing ideas for growing your business? Rather than slide into the busy fourth quarter with the same old marketing bag of tricks, you can get a jump on your competitors by embracing new tactics for increasing leads and sales.

Try one--or all four--of these out-of-the-ordinary tactics to produce the results you need:

1. Reach Your Best Qualified Prospects
If you're looking for an effective way to reach a highly specific and qualified audience, consider sending direct mail to the subscriber list of a well-targeted magazine. There are specialized business and consumer magazines to reach every audience imaginable. Unfortunately, the cost to run a good-size print ad with enough frequency for your message to penetrate in many of the national publications may be prohibitive. A great alternative--particularly for B2B marketers targeting specific industries or individuals based on their job titles--is to select a magazine that reaches your best prospects and rent its subscriber list for a direct-mail campaign. Some publications offer their lists as a combo buy along with advertising, and others make them available separately. Depending on how the list you choose is segmented, you may decide to mail to a portion of the list or all of it. Just be sure to mail at least two to three times to the same list for maximum results.

2. Get National Editorial Exposure
There's a fairly well-kept secret among top PR agencies and major corporations. What do they know that you don't? Most newspapers, and many other types of media outlets as well, are understaffed and often have significant editorial gaps to fill. They rely on free outside copy that arrives in the form of "mat" releases, articles that are prewritten and ready for publication.

For less than the cost of one decent-size ad in a single daily newspaper, you could create an article to be distributed with your byline that might get picked up by several hundred newspapers across the country and generate dozens of leads--or more. Since newspaper editorial is generally perceived as more credible than advertising, a mat release is an effective way to reach and influence readers. Two of the major mat release services, Metro Editorial Services and ARA , which distributes online only, have pricing that fits small-business budgets.

3. Borrow E-Mail Clout
Everyone knows that e-mail is one of the lowest-cost, highest-return marketing tactics around. But while e-mail to in-house lists is a great customer retention tool, in recent years, the glut of spam has made it difficult to use e-mail for new customer acquisition because prospects are simply deleting all but the most recognizable mailings.

The best way out of this dilemma is to place advertising in third-party e-newsletters that reach qualified subscribers. For example, say you want to reach women who are about to get married. You could research the most popular bridal websites and then choose the best and most cost-efficient e-newsletter in which to advertise. This would guarantee your message reaches a highly qualified list of brides-to-be. And since recipients had subscribed to the e-newsletter, it would have a good open rate and you'd gain instant credibility by being included in emails sent by a respected source.

4. Take It Outside
Out-of-home advertising includes everything from traditional billboards and transit advertising to naming rights for community hiking trails. Thanks to the current upsurge in place-based advertising, now your messages can be anywhere your customers go. Want to reach them at their favorite restaurants? There are posters in the restrooms. Need to market to college students? You'll find poster-size ads available on more than 300 college campuses nationwide.

The key to effectively using out-of-home advertising is to reach your prospects when you can influence a purchase (think about the way brochures promoting tooth-whitening products reach and influence patients in the dentist's office). And look for marketing venues that are compatible with the overall tone and content of your company's message. This will ensure that your prospects are in the right frame of mind to be receptive to your message, whenever they encounter it.

Best ways build link

Love for Lists

1. Build a "101 list". These get Dugg all the time, and often become "authority documents". People can't resist linking to these (hint, hint).

2. Create 10 easy tips to help you [insert topic here] articles. Again, these are exceptionally easy to link to.

3. Create extensive resource lists for a specific topic (see Mr Ploppy for inspiration).

4. Create a list of the top 10 myths for a specific category.

5. Create a list of gurus/experts. If you impress the people listed well enough, or find a way to make your project look somewhat official, the gurus may end up linking to your site or saying thanks. (Sometimes flattery is the easiest way to strike up a good relationship with an "authority".)
Developing Authority & Being Easy to Link At

6. Make your content easy to understand so many people can understand and spread your message. (It's an accessibility thing.)

7. Put some effort in to minimize grammatical or spelling errors, especially if you need authoritative people like librarians to link to your site.

8. Have an easily accessible privacy policy and about section so your site seems more trustworthy. Including a picture of yourself may also help build your authority.
PPC as a Link Building Tool

9. Buy relevant traffic with a pay per click campaign. Relevant traffic will get your site more visitors and brand exposure. When people come to your site, regardless of the channel in which they found it, there is a possibility that they will link to you.
News & Syndication

10. Syndicate an article at EzineArticles, GoArticles, iSnare, etc. The great thing about good article sites is that their article pages actually rank highly and send highly qualified traffic.

11. Submit an article to industry news site. Have an SEO site? Write an article and submit to WebProNews. Have a site about BLANK? Submit to BLANKinformationalsite.com.

12. Syndicate a press release. Take the time to make it GOOD (compelling, newsworthy). Email it to some handpicked journalists and bloggers. Personalize the email message. For good measure, submit it to PRWeb, PRLeap, etc.

13. Track who picks up your articles or press releases. Offer them exclusive news or content.

14. Trade articles with other webmasters.

15. Email a few friends when you have important relevant news asking them for their feedback and/or if they would mind referencing it if they find your information useful.

16. Write about, and link to, companies with "in the news" pages. They link back to stories and blog posts which cover their developments. This is obviously easiest if you have a news section or blog. Do a Google search for [your industry + "in the news"].

17. Perform surveys and studies that make people feel important. If you can make other people feel important they will help do your marketing for you for free. Salary.com did a study on how underpaid mothers were, and they got many high quality links.
Directories, Meme Trackers & Social Bookmarking

18. This tip is an oldie but goodie: submit your site to DMOZ and other directories that allow free submissions.

19. Submit your site to paid directories. Another oldie. Just remember that quality matters.

20. Create your own topical directory about your field of interest. Obviously link to your own site, deeplinking to important content where possible. Of course, if you make it into a truly useful resource, it will attract links on its own.

21. Tag related sites on sites like Del.icio.us. If people find the sites you tag to be interesting, emotionally engaging, or timely they may follow the trail back to your site.

22. If you create something that is of great quality make sure you ask a few friends to tag it for you. If your site gets on the front page of Digg or on the Del.icio.us popular list, hundreds more bloggers will see your site, and potentially link to it.

23. Look at meme trackers to see what ideas are spreading. If you write about popular spreading ideas with plenty of original content (and link to some of the original resources), your site may get listed as a source on the meme tracker site.
Local & Business Links

24. Join the Better Business Bureau.

25. Get a link from your local chamber of commerce.

26. Submit your link to relevant city and state governmental resources. (Easier in some countries than in others.)

27. List your site at the local library's Web site.

28. See if your manufacturers or retailers or other business partners might be willing to link to your site.

29. Develop business relationships with non-competing businesses in the same field. Leverage these relationships online and off, by recommending each other via links and distributing each other's business cards.

30. Launch an affiliate program. Most of the links you pick up will not have SEO value, but the added exposure will almost always lead to additional "normal" links.
Easy Free Links

31. Depending on your category and offer, you will find Craigslist to be a cheap or free classified service.

32. It is pretty easy to ask or answer questions on Yahoo! Answers and provide links to relevant resources.

33. It is pretty easy to ask or answer questions on Google Groups and provide links to relevant resources.

34. If you run a fairly reputable company, create a page about it in the Wikipedia or in topic specific wikis. If it is hard to list your site directly, try to add links to other pages that link to your site.

35. It takes about 15 minutes to set up a topical Squidoo page, which you can use to look like an industry expert. Link to expert documents and popular useful tools in your fields, and also create a link back to your site.

36. Submit a story to Digg that links to an article on your site. You can also submit other content and have some of its link authority flow back to your profile page.

37. If you publish an RSS feed and your content is useful and regularly updated, some people will syndicate your RSS content (and some of those will provide links… unfortunately, some will not).

38. Most forums allow members to leave signature links or personal profile links. If you make quality contributions some people will follow these links and potentially read your site, link at your site, and/or buy your products.
Have a Big Heart for Reviews

39. Most brands are not well established online, so if your site has much authority, your review related content often ranks well.

40. Review relevant products on Amazon.com. We have seen this draw in direct customer enquiries and secondary links.

41. Create product lists on Amazon.com that review top products and also mention your background (LINK!).

42. Review related sites on Alexa to draw in related traffic streams.

43. Review products and services on shopping search engines like ePinions to help build your authority.

44. If you buy a product or service you really like and are good at leaving testimonials, many of those turn into links. Two testimonial writing tips — make them believable, and be specific where possible.
Blogs & the Blogosphere

45. Start a blog. Not just for the sake of having one. Post regularly and post great content. Good execution is what gets the links.

46. Link to other blogs from your blog. Outbound links are one of the cheapest forms of marketing available. Many bloggers also track who is linking to them or where their traffic comes from, so linking to them is an easy way to get noticed by some of them.

47. Comment on other blogs. Most of these comments will not provide much direct search engine value, but if your comments are useful, insightful, and relevant they can drive direct traffic. They also help make the other bloggers become aware of you, and they may start reading your blog and/or linking to it.

48. Technorati tag pages rank well in Yahoo! and MSN, and to a lesser extent in Google. Even if your blog is fairly new you can have your posts featured on the Technorati tag pages by tagging your posts with relevant tags.

49. If you create a blog make sure you list it in a few of the best blog directories.
Design as a Linking Element

50. Web 2.0-ify your site. People love to link to anything with AJAX. Even in the narrowest of niches, there is some kind of useful functionality you can build with AJAX.

51. Validate and 508 your site. This (indirect) method makes your site more trustworthy and linkable, especially from governmental sites or design-oriented communities. There are even a few authoritative directories of standards-compliant sites.

52. Order a beautiful CSS redesign. A nice design can get links from sites like CSS Vault.
Hire Help

53. Hire a publicist. Good old fashioned 'PR' (not PageRank) can still work wonders. Andy Hagans now offers a link baiting publicity service.

54. Hire a consultant. Yes, you can outsource link building. Just make sure to go with someone good. We recommend WeBuildPages, Debra Mastaler and, ahem, Andy Hagans.
Link Trading

55. Swap some links. What?! Did we really just recommend reciprocal link building? Yes, on a small scale, and with relevant partners that will send you traffic. Stay away from the link trading hubs and networks.

56. In case you didn't get the memo — when swapping links, try to get links from within the content of relevant content pages. Do not try to get links from pages that list hundreds of off topic link partners. Only seek link exchanges that you would consider pursuing even if search engines did not exist. Instead of thinking just about your topic when exchanging links, think about demographic audience sets.
Buying Sites, Renting Links & Advertisements

57. Rent some high quality links from a broker. Text Link Ads is the most reputable firm in this niche.

58. Rent some high quality links directly from Web sites. Sometimes the most powerful rented links come direct from sites not actively renting links.

59. Become a sponsor. All sorts of charities, contests, and conferences link to their sponsors. This can be a great way to gain visibility, links, and a warm feeling in your heart.

60. Sell items on eBay and offer to donate the profits to a charity. Many charities will link both to the eBay auction and to your site.

61. Many search algorithms seem biased toward older established sites. It may be faster to buy an old site with a strong link profile, and link it to your own site, than to try to start building authority links from scratch.
Use the Courts (Proceed with Caution)

62. Sue Google.

63. Get sued by a company people hate. When Aaron was sued by Traffic Power, he got hundreds or thousands of links, including links from sites like Wired and The Wall Street Journal.
Freebies & Giveaways

64. Hold a contest. Contests make great link bait. A few-hundred-dollar prize can result in thousands of dollars worth of editorial quality links. Enough said.

65. Build a tool collection. Original and useful tools (and collections of tools) get a lot of link love. What do you think ranking for mortgage calculator is worth?

66. Create and release open source site design templates for content management systems like Wordpress. Don't forget the "Designed by example.com" bit in the footer!

67. Offer free samples in exchange for feedback.

68. Release a Firefox extension. Make sure you have a download and/or support page on your site which people can link to.
Conferences & Social Interaction

69. It is easy to take pictures of important events and tell narratives about why they are important. Pictures of (drunk?) "celebrities" in your industry make great link bait.

70. Leverage new real world relationships into linking relationships. If you go to SEO related conferences, people like Tim Mayer, Matt Cutts, and Danny Sullivan are readily accessible. Similarly, in other industries, people who would normally seem inaccessible are exceptionally accessible at trade conferences. It is much easier to seem "real" in person. Once you create social relationships in person, it is easy to extend that onto the web.

71. Engaging, useful, and interesting interviews are an easy way to create original content. And they spread like wildfire.
30 Bad Ways to Build Links

Here are a few link buiding methods that may destroy your brand or get your site banned/penalized/filtered from major search engines, or both.
Directories

72. Submit your site to 200 cheesy paid directories (averaging $15 a pop) that send zero traffic and sell offtopic run-of-site links.
Forum Spam

73. List 100 Web sites in your signature file.

74. Exclusively post only when you can add links to your sites in the post area.

75. Post nothing but "me too" posts to build your post count. Use in combination with a link-rich signature file.

76. Ask questions about who provides the best [WIDGET], where [WIDGET] is an item that you sell. From the same IP address create another forum account and answer your own question raving about how great your own site is.

77. As a new member to various forums, ask the same question at 20 different forums on the same day.

78. Post on forum threads that are years outdated exclusively to link to your semi-related website.

79. Sign up for profiles on forums you never intend on commenting on.
Blog Spam

80. Instead of signing blog comments with your real name, sign them with spammy keywords.

81. Start marketing your own site hard on your first blog comment. Add no value to the comment section. Mention nothing other than you recently posted on the same subject at _____ and everyone should read it. Carpet bomb dozens of blogs with this message.

82. Say nothing unique or relevant to the post at hand. Make them assume an automated bot hit their comments.

83. Better yet, use automated bots to hit their comments. List at least 30 links in each post. Try to see if you can hit any servers hard enough to make them crash.

84. Send pings to everyone talking about a subject. In your aggregation post, state nothing of interest. Only state that other people are talking about the topic.

85. Don't even link to any of the sites you are pinging. Send them pings from posts that do not even reference them.
Garbage Link Exchanges

86. Send out link exchange requests mentioning PageRank.

87. Send link exchange emails which look like an automated bot sent them (little or no customization, no personal names, etc.).

88. Send link exchange requests to Matt Cutts, Tim Mayer, Tim Converse, Google, and Yahoo!.

89. Get links from nearly-hidden sections of websites listing hundreds or thousands of off topic sites.
Spam People in Person

90. Go to webmaster conferences and rave about how rich you are, and how your affiliates make millions doing nothing.

91. Instead of asking people what their name is, ask what their URL is. As soon as you get their URL ask if they have linked to your site yet and if not, why not.
Be Persistant

92. Send a webmaster an alert to every post you make on your website.

93. Send a webmaster an email every single day asking for them to link to your website.

94. Send references to your site to the same webmaster from dozens of different email accounts (you sly dog).

95. If the above do not work to get you a free link, offer them $1 for their time. Increase your offer by a dollar each day until they give in.
Getting Links by Being a Jerk

96. Emulate the RIAA. When in doubt, file a lawsuit against a 12-year-old girl. (Failing that, obtain bad press by any means necessary.)

97. Steal content published by well known names. Strip out any attribution. Aggregate many popular channels and just wait for them to start talking about you.

98. Send thousands of fake referrals at every top ranking Web site, guaranteeing larger boobs, a 14-inch penis (is that length or girth?), or millions of dollars in free, unclaimed money.

99. Wear your URL on your t-shirt. Walk or drive your car while talking on a cell phone or reading a book. When you run into other people say "excuse you, jerk".

100. Spill coffee on people or find creative ways to insult people to coax them into linking at your site.

101. Sue other webmasters for deep linking to your site. Well, this is more "hilariously dumb" than it is a "bad linking practice".

Add Your Recent Tweets to Blogger

If you’ve got a Blogspot.com blog, you can add your Twitter feed to the sidebar very, very easily. The feed will list your last 5 tweets, as well as the time it was posted and link to follow if the reader chooses. I’ve seen several variations of this code and its presentation, but the one I use on my own blog, and the one I use when installing blogs for other people, is the simplest version possible. Why? Because I don’t want the script slowing the loading down and I don’t want the widget itself to look wonky in different browsers or screen resolutions. If you’d like to add your recent tweets to your blogger sidebar, this is how you do it:
First, you'll need to edit the code:

You will need to make TWO very easy changes. The code you see below is the code for my own personal twitter feed, and you will need to edit it to display yours. I have left my twitter name (IsabellaSnow) in place so that you can see exactly where yours will go. Simply copy your twitter user name and paste it directly overtop of mine (IsabellaSnow) – in both places. Once that is done, your code is ready to show your own twitter feed. Make sure you that you do not paste over top of, or remove anything which is not bolded. If you do, it won’t work. And if you make a mistake, simply come back here and copy the code again and start over. Easy peasy.
Here's the code:

    Now you’re ready to install

    * Log into your Dashboard.
    * Click on 'Layout'
    * Go to the sidebar in question and click 'add a gadget'
    * Click on the 3rd option down, which is titled 'HTML/JavaScript'
    * Copy and paste your new code into the box.
    * Click 'save'
    * Position the widget wherever you’d like – most people put it somewhere near the top. If you’d like to see how mine looks you can take a look at my blog.

    Add a cute icon!

If you do take a look at my blog (use the link in the previous paragraph) you’ll notice that I used a Twitter logo to attract people’s attention to the feed and to make it clear what it was. You can find loads of free twitter logos around the net and then display it above your feed to give it a more personal touch.

    WAYS GET LINK AT BLOG

If you know anything about blogging, you know that you want to get other people on the Internet to link back to your blog. That's because this increases the traffic that comes to your blog. It does this through exposing your link to a greater number of people. It also does this through the fact that your blog will have more credibility with search engines if it has links to it from other sites. So you know that you're supposed to get other blogs to link to yours. But how do you do it?

Here are twenty five basic ways to get backlinks to your blog:

    1. Write great content. People who like what you have to say on your blog will probably link to it eventually.

    2. Ask other bloggers for link exchanges. This sometimes works although it's getting less common.

    3. Comment on the blogs of others. This will encourage them to notice your blog and give links back to you.

    4. Do reviews on your site. Review indie movies, folk musicians, local businesses or anything else that's interesting to you but small enough to get attention back from those folks. A favorable review will get linked to by the people you reviewed.

    5. Submit your blog to social bookmarking sites such as Digg and Mixx.

    6. Add your blog URL to your profiles on social networking sites such as MySpace and LinkedIn. This gets it some attention and can lead to backlinks from people on those sites.

    7. Link to yourself. If you write for any other blogs or websites, include links back to your own blog whenever it's appropriate to do so. You can write articles and submit them to article submission sites to achieve the same purpose.

    8. Offer an incentive. Post an announcement on your blog that you'll give some link love to anyone that links to your blog. Or run a giveaway contest for the site who links back to you the most times in a week.

    9. Give some link love for free. Link love just means that you create a post that links to a bunch of other posts on the web. Many bloggers compile a "link love" list of 10-40 links on a once per week basis. These links out often lead to links in.

    10. Use a service that gets you backlinks. You have to pay for these but you usually get what you pay for. Do your research to make sure that you're working with a legitimate company.

    11. Use interviews on your site. Whenever you interview someone, you gain a reader (the person interviewed) who is likely to link back to that interview in order to promote themselves to others.

    12. Regularly increase your own blogroll. When you link to others, they're more likely to link to you. Add new sites (related to yours by topic) to your blogroll on a regular basis.

    13. Post on Craigslist or similar sites for guest bloggers. There are other bloggers out there who are happy to write for you especially if it means that they get to promote that writing and get a link back to their own blog. You benefit because they'll promote that post and link to it.

    14. Write a press release. If you can write a great press release about some aspect of your work, submit it to press release sites and people will link to it.

    15. Submit your blog to blog
directories. If people can't find you, they can't link to you.

    16. Put an RSS feed on your blog. People are more likely to come back to it again and again if they can subscribe to it. The more they come, they more likely they are to find something they want to link to.

    17. Use BlogRush. This service distributes your post titles across multiple blogs.

    18. Participate in forums related to your blog topic. Many let you include your URL link in your automatic signature.

    19. Add a "link to me" button on your site. You don't see these often but they do exist. Sometimes people who wouldn't think about linking to you on their own will decide to go ahead and do it when they see the button.

    20. Learn and use PayPerClick Advertising. You advertise yourself to people who would have a strong interest in your blog topic. The higher percentage of people who come to your site that actually have an interest in the topic, the higher percentage of links you're going to get out of it.

    21. Respond to every comment that you get. People who write to you want to know that you're listening. When you do, you get loyal readers and they end up eventually linking to you because they like you.

    22. Create a wiki or glossary for your topic. This is a resource that, if done well, everyone in the same industry will want to link to.

    23. Become an Amazon reviewer. You don't get money but you can get links back to your blog. And you can review anything that you're already reading or listening to anyway so it's fairly easy.

    24. Ask questions. Always ask a question in your posts so that people are encouraged to get involved in a conversation on your site. If the conversation gets heated, you're likely to get some attention to it in the form of links.

    25. Create a "why you'd want to link to me" page for your blog. List a bunch of great reasons and you'll encourage people to go ahead and make that link.

Ultimately, getting backlinks boils down to a few basic things. You need to have something on your site that people will find worthy of linking to. And you need to be willing to get active in online networking so that you can get the attention of those people who have blogs that can link to yours. Within these basics, there are lots of little things that you can do to get backlinks. The more creative that you are, the better those links are likely to be.

    TIPS WEB MARKETING

Learning lots of web marketing tips and methods will ensure you have great success as an affiliate marketer. Lets take a look at some of the basics of this way to earn online money that is exploding all over the internet.

    Web Marketing Tips

First of all a merchant, company or advertiser will be selling a product. An affiliate (you) is a person who assists in the promotion of the products and makes a commission by doing so. To become an affiliate you will have to choose a product you wish to promote. To find products just type "affiliate programmes" into Google and you will get a list of 1,000s to choose from in 1,000s of niche markets.

Sign up for a programme and that should be free to do. Popular ones are ClickBank.com for digital products and Amazon.com for physical ones. The beauty of sites like ClickBank is that the website is already created for you. Now you must learn how to drive traffic to your offer. This can be done through social media, ezine articles, pay per click campaigns, banner advertising, the list is endless.

Always aim to build an email list of subscribers so you can send out weekly newsletters with more valuable information and other offers to sell them. MARKETING MASTER

To target your desired market you need to work with true opt-in email marketing where the potential prospect has given permission to be contacted and who has expressed interest in receiving information and special offers related to your industry.

Permission based email marketing should be part of your marketing mix. Permission based email marketing allows you to safely and professionally get your message to a large group of people, for a very low price. Permission based email marketing can get your message to thousands of prospects in just minutes. Permission based email marketing and unsolicited bulk email are two completely different animals that are often confused for one another.

Permission Based Email Marketing Has Several Distinct Advantages Over Unsolicited Bulk Email:

Permission based email marketing is legal, unsolicited bulk email is illegal. Need we say more? Permission based email marketing is only sent to people who have specifically requested to receive marketing messages for products and services like yours, specific to their individual interests. These are people who spend time and money on the internet! Unsolicited bulk email is not targeted and the lists are ridiculously over-used resulting in dismal results if any. Permission based email marketing is received with open arms. Spam is loathed and often retaliated with flames and mail bombs. Permission based email marketing with a reputable company eliminates the risk of costly lawsuits and losing your ISP. Permission based email marketing is a fraction of the cost of traditional marketing and provides higher returns. Spam costs about the same, until you get caught or flamed. Permission based email marketing portrays a professional, ethical image - unsolicited bulk email does not. Why would anyone in their right mind do business with a company that engages in this type of illegal behavior? Permission based email marketing turbo-charges your business communication - high speed, high volume, low cost distribution to a specifically targeted list of email addresses. We guarantee the lowest prices, highest deliverability rates and most extensive email list directory. Permission based email marketing gives you the opportunity to send your message including your Website URL, email address and company information without violating any Web Hosting or ISP agreement. This is absolutely the safest and most professional way to send your message

IF YOU TYPE IN ALL CAPS

People who type in all capital letters are often an irritant to others who are reading what they have written. This may not be fair but it’s the case. That’s because there are a lot of assumptions that people make about what it means that someone is typing in ALL CAPS. We don’t have the benefit of being able to read body language when reading something online so we have to do what we can to infer a person’s meaning based just on the words they’ve shared and the way that they’ve written them. We might be making the wrong inferences but there are some common things that we are likely to believe if someone has sent us a message in all caps.

Here are some of the assumptions that people will make when you send them an email (or write an article) that is entirely capitalized:

    • People think a message in all caps means that the write is yelling at them. The traditional thing that “all caps” writing has come to mean on the Internet is that you are doing this because you want to convey a tone similar to yelling. A message or article that is written entirely in capital letters is jarring to look at because we don’t typically receive messages that look this way. This is comparable to hearing yelling when what we normally hear is quiet speech. The message that is sent in ALL CAPS comes across as yelling or threatening. This will often cause people to react to the message negatively out of a defensive posture even if the actual words that are in the message are not angry. The situation is exacerbated when the content of the written piece is negative or angry because this fuels the fire of “yelling” that appears to be going on here.

    • People assume that the writer is trying to demand attention. Even if the message of an ALL CAPS piece of writing isn’t considered to be received in a manner similar to yelling, it does tend to create the feeling that the person who has written it really wants to get some attention. This is mainly due to the fact that the writing is different from the norm. The same would be true if the writing were in a very strange font, a much larger size than normal or a color other than black. Often, in writing, we will use bold or ALL CAPS lettering to make a particular point stand out. If we use bold or ALL CAPS writing for the entire piece then we are sending the message that the entire piece should stand out. This can irritate someone who doesn’t understand why you are demanding their attention to this piece of writing.

    • People may assume that you have a lack of skill with technology. The standard method of writing online these days is through the traditional use of a combination of lower case and capital letters. If you choose not to conform to this method then the people who read what you are writing may assume that you are not familiar with the standard etiquette of the technology that you are using. If you write in all lower case letters or ALL CAPS then people may think that you don’t really know how to use a computer properly even if that’s not the case at all.

    • People may assume that you are an immature writer. In addition to believing that you may not use technology properly, people reading your work may assume that you don’t know the proper methods of capitalization and that this is why you choose to write in ALL CAPS. This can be damaging if you are interested in building up a reputation for your writing. People may fail to take the content of your writing seriously because they believe that you don’t know how to write.

    • People may assume that you are lazy. Another reason that someone might choose to write in all caps is that they don’t want to bother with changing back and forth between lower case and capital letters. This can be viewed as lazy by the person that is reading your message.

    • People may wonder if you are trying to be a rebel. This is just one of those issues of non-conformity. When you opt to do things in a way that other people are not doing them, you draw attention to yourself. Some of this will be negative attention from people who do not understand why you will not conform to the way that things are done. If you don’t want to be seen as someone who breaks the rules or ignores convention then you shouldn’t write in all capital letters.

Many of these assumptions are probably not actually the case for most people who are writing in ALL CAPS. There may be any number of reasons that you would choose to write in ALL CAPS including simply that you find it more aesthetically pleasing. However, it is a fact that many people will make these negative assumptions about you if you do write emails and articles without using proper lower case and capitalization in your writing. As a result, it is probably best to drop the ALL CAPS writing and write in the traditional form in order to generate more positive online relationships with others. Plus this allows you to really make your point come through when you have something truly urgent to say and you want to say it with an ALL CAPS message.

    PROMOTE TO YOUR SITE

Although hubpages is a great way to make money on it's own from the google adsense and amazon / ebay affiliate program revenue share, most people who are make a good amount of money online - either purely from writing or from other sources - also run their own blog or website. Personally I make a little over a quarter of my total income from hubpages, and the rest from my own sites. If you are a webmaster like me then hubpages can be a great tool for you to use to promote your website, as well as a nice source of extra income in it's own right.

Writing and publishing hubs works as a promotional tool because google likes hubpages. That means that you can get a hub into a good position in google's search results for keywords that would be much more difficult to rank well for using your own site, particularly if it is still quite new. And it also means that the links which you place on your hubs can have a good 'seo' value, meaning that your hubs will really help you to gain a higher position in the search engine results pages yourself.

But if you want to gain the maximum benefit from using hubpages then it isn't so simple as just throwing up a few hastily written articles and scattering a few links through them or placing a 'visit my site' link at the bottom of the page.

I actually started using hubpages almost solely to promote my own blogs and websites. Since I discovered the earning potential of this site I have shifted emphasis a little bit, but this is still an important part of what I do here and over the year and a half of using hubpages I think I have at least learned a little bit about what works and what doesn't. So to share what little wisdom I might have gained, here are my top 'dos and don'ts' of using hubpages to promote your website. I've tried to be as comprehensive as I could be, so some of the first few may be a little obvious - I don't mean to insult your intelligence, I'm just trying not to leave anything out. And hopefully you will still find some of the later tips useful.

    Things To Do

Do - Write hubs that are closely related to the topic of your website. It sounds obvious, but this will make a big difference to the value of any links you place on your hubs as well as increasing the likelihood that people who read your hubs would also also be interested in your other work.

Do - Build links to your hubs. Even if you are only interested in using them to help market another site, a hub with no links to it will have little promotional value. Build a few links and you may be suprised at how much traffic you can get, and of course that will also give your hubs more lovely link juice to pass on.

Do - Include other links on your hubs. You may want to pass on all of the linking value of your hub to one place, but if you share the love and add a few other links it can really help for two reasons: firstly, people are more likely to look through a genuine list of useful resources and visit them than to click on an obviously promotion link. Secondly, if you link to a few high quality sites that google rates highly then that places your hub in a 'good neighbourhood'. This makes it easier to rank highly for that hub, and also increases the value of an additional link to promote your own website which you may also add to the page.

Do - Make an effort to create quality content. Quality hubs can make it onto the 'hot' and 'best' lists in the hubpages categories, or even overall, and they can also accrue links from other hubbers and on other sites, all of which can dramatically increase both the traffic and the link value that they can pass on. Rubbish hubs won't.

Do - Include the keywords (search terms) that you want to target in the title and url of at least one hub.

Do - Add a description of your site and a link to it on your profile page. Often your profile will get more traffic than any of your actual hubs.

Do - Expand your horizons and write about different topics. More quality hubs = more traffic and more promotion.

Do - Have fun! It's not all work you know, writing for hubpages and participating in the community can be enjoyable too.

How to get traffic to your site

Getting traffic to your website can be exhausting and a hard battle. Some online marketers tend to give up rather quickly because of not getting enough traffic to their website. While it is not an impossible task, you will need determination and the right resources to starting getting at least 1000 visitors a day to your website. Here is how to do it really fast:

    1. Article Sites- Articles sites are a popular way to gain some readership, but they can also get you fast traffic from the search engines. Let me be clear; article sites are not article directories. With most article sites, your content can be publishes in less than a day (in most cases, instantly), which will gain you backlinks more quickly. Some examples of article sites include; Associated Content, Helium and Ehow. Most of these article sites also give you a cash reward for page views, but expect pennies. But, to use them for traffic, simply write an article with a link to your website. It is as simple as that. You can also ping the article’s url using Pingomatic or Pingler.com.

    2. Deep-Link Directories- This is a technique that was just introduced to me like 3 days ago. Google values a website with deep-linking more than just a high page rank index/main page. Deep-linking is when you have a high page rank for all pages of your site. This would include blog post. I also like deep-link directories better because you can constantly add new pages for higher page rank.

    3. Hubsites- Hubsites are a favorite of mine because they work like article directories, only you can get faster results in shorter amount of time. Article directories take up to a week for your article to be published, while with hubsites, it takes less than a day to get your articles indexed in the search engines. Some popular hubsites are; Hubpages, Xomba and Squidoo. Hubpages is the best in my opinion because your link will be dofollow, which will get more attention from the search engines. The other 2 hubsites mentioned have a ‘nofollow’ tag, but they can still boost your page rank to your website.

    4. Forum posting- This is probably the easiest method link building ever. Here is the thing about link-building though; you have to do it in volume in order for it to work. So, just think of it this way; in order to make one sale, you will need to post 50-100 post per day. While this does seem like a tedious project, you can surf and answer other people’s questions. Just make sure to edit your signature using a low competition filled word for your anchor text. That’s it! Every time you post a comment, your signature will instantly be added. Only use forums that have a page rank of 6 or higher.

    5. Multiple blog posting- Writing more than 5 post a day can be quite exhausting, but it is good for your traffic. I would suggest writing at least 10-20 blog post per day. Sometimes, most webmasters don’t have the time to do this themselves. I would suggest buying a PLR article pack. Most of them are affordable and can be found in popular webmaster forums.

    6. Facebook- Facebook has become one of the easiest and free marketing tools to use. Since Facebook is ‘dofollow’, marketers can use the ‘status update’ feature to tell about a new product or a website and add a link as well for Facebook members to use. I would suggest using a pre-existing Facebook page to market instead of creating a new one. It can become obvious that you are only using Facebook as a marketing tool and your account will instantly be banned.

    Social internet marketing

Don’t we all, but everyone can’t be a Social Internet Marketing Guru. Someone has to follow them and buy their stuff. If you though High School was tough, you ain’t seen nothing yet.

Becoming a Guru is tough; you have to learn to become a brown-nosing, butt-kissing, big time suck-up. It’s a hard gig but I hear it pays pretty well. How much does it pay? I don’t know, read some of the stuff I’ve written and you’ll probably figure out why I’m not a big time Guru. I'd rather just get backlinks than do all the social stuff.

Even though I’ve never actually DONE it, I’m going to tell you how it is done. Now see there? That’s a clue to how it is done, you need to appear as though you know what you are talking about. Most of the Guru’s became Guru’s because they convinced people that they knew stuff before they ever knew anything at all.

If I’ve learned one thing in the study of becoming a Guru it is that you have to be one before people will listen to you. The trick here is to make a bunch of friends at all the online networking places so that you will appear to be popular in order to become popular enough that people will follow you. I’m pretty sure that sentence is kind of long but talk fast and smooth right?

Ok so now you have a bunch of friends on FaceBook and Twitter and MySpace and on and on and on. The time has come, you’ve been waiting for it and working for it and now you deserve it. It is time to comment on blogs. The joy, personally I can hardly contain myself.

Find a popular blog or 500 in the subject you want to become a Guru in and start making insightful comments. They have to be insightful; all the Internet Guru’s say so. Oh you should have also written some posts on a blog so that you can link back to your blog. If you don’t link back to your blog none of your new friends will know where to come.

Once people read your blog they’ll keep coming back. I’m sure of it. You still have to keep working to get more readers though, the more you have the more you can sell to.

Ideas for blog titles. It is hard to come up with blog titles so I’ll give you a hand here. 10 ways to a better blog, how to write for readers, become a Guru in 5 easy steps stuff like that. You know INFORMATIVE stuff that will help your readers to realize they need to purchase whatever you are selling.

That’s pretty much how you become a social internet marketing Guru. Good luck with it.

    Marketing company

It can be a very good idea to employ the services of a third party marketing company. There are a host of benefits for doing this and this solution could be just the answer you have been looking for. There is no doubt that marketing is a crucial part of the business world, whether it is online marketing or marketing via the traditional channels. If you want to compete on a global scale or simply ensure your business goes further than it currently is, marketing is absolutely essential. This article looks at the benefits of a third party company carrying out the marketing for your company.

Expertise is one of the main benefits of working with a marketing company. You may be business savvy and you may be the boss of a reasonably sized organisation, but does that mean you know about marketing? This is quite a specific area of business and if you don't know much about it then you are much better off finding someone who does. It is of course possible to hire full time marketing staff to carry out the work, but this brings with it a host of additional costs, and means you're are committing to long term marketing drives too. By using an outside party you don't have to find a space for them in the office or pay a salary. You only pay for the work itself and you get to choose how long the campaign lasts. This can work out a lot cheaper in the long run.

Sometimes CEOs choose to carry out their own marketing. The difficulty is that this takes them away from the core activities of the business. Although there is a cost involved in hiring a firm to take over the marketing, it does mean that the CEO or other staff don't have to carry an additional workload. Asking an existing member of staff to carry out some marketing tasks can lead to resentment and stress on their part as they try to fit in the additional work.

A very effective marketing activity is telemarketing. Telemarketing works so well because it enables hundreds or thousands of potential or existing customers to be reached per day. That is hundreds and thousands if enough people are making the calls. Does your organisation currently have the capacity to make thousands of calls a day? The chances are good that this is not possible. Instead of hiring telemarketers, why not outsource this to a marketing company? This is a perfect example of why handling marketing in-house is not always the best or most efficient solution.

The marketing company will work with so that you can be sure your message and your brand is being presented in the way you want. You can have peace of mind that the marketing is being handled by professionals, leaving you time to get back to the primary activities of your role in the organisation. It is a perfect match and many companies around the world are choosing this method of marketing.

Small businesses or those with limited office space may require some marketing but simply don't have the resources to do it themselves. No matter the size of the campaign or the parameters of the marketing project, an outside marketing company can ensure it goes smoothly. If you really want results from your marketing then you should do yourself and your business a favour by calling in the experts.

Using an outside marketing company to carry out all your marketing carries many benefits. If you want to ensure you have chosen the best to work with you should seek out a company with plenty of marketing examples to show. Perhaps they can show you a marketing guide to their services. That way you can make an informed decision about which company to choose to handle your marketing.

how to be an online marketing

You need to remember that you must get a lot of different factors right if you want to be successful with internet marketing. This article will cover a few efficient online marketing suggestions for your web based company.

One of the most prominent tips you can receive on Internet marketing is to be helpful to your potential customers. You want to be someone who your target audience seeks out for information or advice in your niche. The fact is, there are so many rip offs online that people are looking for someone they can trust. If you can prove that your intention is to provide quality service, your customers will take notice. Then it will be clear that you are not just promoting products but are also providing a service. Once you are able to gain their trust and respect, then you can get into the mode of recommending your products to your prospects. Don't try too hard to sell anything, but simply explain to them how buying your product may be beneficial to them. You want your prospects to see you as someone who is able to fill a need they have. It's also important to stay in touch with your customers after they buy from you so that you become more familiar to them and get repeat business. It's all about balancing your marketing with effective relationship building. You will always be more successful by meeting the needs of your customers.

If you want to find new prospects and get more traffic to your site, you should learn to use social media to your advantage. With so many users on Twitter, Facebook and other social networks, you now have a way to find people in every niche. You can easily create a Twitter account and add relevant followers to whom you can market your products. You can also encourage your present contacts to become followers so you have a simple way to stay in touch with them and perhaps provide customer service. Depending on your products and interests, you can find lots of other social media sites that may be helpful for your promotional needs. There is little doubt that Web 2.0 platforms are one of the most popular forms of communication today, so it can be very beneficial to tap into them.

If you are marketing anything online your potential customers need to feel like they are communicating with a human and not a machine. In other words, show them your personal side, as it helps you strengthen the trust factor. You need to establish yourself as a person who cares about their clients and who is interested in creating a bond with them rather than someone who is only after making sales. The strength of the relationships you form will determine the success of your business.

Because online marketing is always evolving and progressing, if you want to succeed you need to know all you can about it.

    Mulailah Segera Membangun Situs Anda

    Situs Anda Harus Mudah Dicari

    Berilah Perhatian Pada Inventori

    Kirimkan E-mail Segera Kepada Pelanggan

    Update Halaman Depan Situs

Berikan Layanan Lebih Pada Pelanggan Anda
